Gratitude

I first learned about the power of gratitude while reading Sarah Ban Breathnach´s devotional Simple Abundance. Sarah is a lovely author who speaks to the heart of women while weaving principles of joy, order, beauty, gratitude, simplicity, and harmony into the daily round. I have reread her book for the third year in a row, relying on the inspiration found within the pages to gently guide me. Since this is the season of Thanksgiving I´ve decided to start sharing some of my gratitude lists with you. I hope this will inspire you to share your own daily reflections of abundance!

I´m grateful for a cold rainy evening spent walking the streets of old Quito with a dear friend. I have missed the slow transition of seasons in Ecuador and for a moment I felt like I was home.
I am grateful for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and eating the first whole wheat bread I´ve had in months!
I am grateful for the kindness of strangers who have become friends, for laughter exchanged over a hot cup of chamomile tea and for playing musical chairs after dinner.
I am grateful for my loving family who always supports and encourages my dreams even when they carry me far from home.
And…I´m grateful for Skype dates with my sisters and the ability to process our daily fears, doubts, and struggles while praying for each other across the miles.
    Your turn!
